The workshops and resources have been created for anyone concerned with helping young people cope with their finances; from ambassador to adviser, teacher to trainer. The activities are suitable for Years 9-13 and have been linked to National Curriculum objectives. They are also suitable for undergraduates.
There are different ways of using UNIAID Interactive. There is a full UNIAID Interactive curriculum, comprising 30 workshops across 9 modules. You can get a physical resource pack or access to downloadable resources with our online membership. We realised that some people wanted guidance and support to deliver these workshops, so you can also buy training as well as the resources. For a full list of options, click here.
Yes. There are two types of training available, which will provide you with the ideas, confidence and materials to deliver these workshops and use the resources. A half day MASH training is available as well as the full UNIAID interactive training which covers a day.
There are different resources and services available so you can chose what's best for you. You can buy the MASH Test as a stand-alone resource. You could opt to get the whole UNIAID Interactive resources - a physical and downloadable resource pack is available, including sample lesson plans, tips, student handouts and facilitator notes. If you want training, you will receive these resources on the day.
The MASH Test is a fun and easy-to-use card game for you to use with groups of undergraduates or year 11-13 students. This game is great for team building and introducing student finance in an engaging way. The MASH Test is one module in the wider UNIAID Interactive curriculum but can be purchased as a stand alone resource.
By registering for the online forum, you will be able to share tips and expertise with other people using UNIAID Interactive. You will be able to see who else is using these resources in your institutions or area and to invite guests to ‘sneak a peak’. As an online member you will also have access to ecopies of the resources available for download for your own use. Membership information.
You do not have to be a qualified teacher to use these resources. They have been designed to be easy to use, flexible and accessible for anyone who wants to help students cope with their finances.
If you would like to be trained, there are different cost-effective training options available.
If you are going to work as a paid employee or as a volunteer for an organisation to do this work, you may be asked to apply for a CRB check. For further guidance on this, see www.crb.gov.uk
Most, but not all, of UNIAID Interactive workshops use UNIAID’s online tools.
To access these tools, you will need to have the following software on your computers:
If you are not able to download the software required because you are on a computer network in a school or college, we would advise you speak to your IT department or helpdesk to do this.
All online tools are accessible from the main UNIAID website: www.uniaid.org.uk
The resources are flexible and can be used with different age groups and in different settings.
For schools, they cover areas of the Careers, PSHE and Maths curriculum for years 9-13 and have received the PFEG Quality Mark. It can also fit into widening participation/outreach work, summer schools, Ace days, University taster days, student induction...
We are always happy to discuss ideas with you.
There are a range of accessible, cost-effective and flexible ways to access UNIAID Interactive, starting from £35 + VAT. Full price list
UNIAID is an independent registered charity (Charity Number: 1089005). As a charity, UNIAID relies entirely on your goodwill and equitable contribution. We keep our costs to a minimum and are asking you to share the costs of producing these resources. Your contribution helps UNIAID to continue supporting students, helping them to cope with the financial hurdles to higher education.
The resources and training have both been tested in a year long pilot. This involved 1000 students and advisers across 10 higher education institutions in England. Feedback was collected from students and advisers and implemented accordingly. An independent evaluation was conducted for the Higher education Funding Council of England.
